Lover’s Eyes first became fashionable in the Georgian era, after the Prince of Wales gifted a miniature of his eye to Ms. Maria Fitzherbert, accompanied by a marriage proposal in 1780. They were popular amongst the upper class in North America, Western Europe, and Russia, until the mid 1800s.

Often painted on ivory and worn as jewellery, they depicted lovers, friends, family, and departed loved ones.
I offer a modern interpretation, to be gifted and treasured, slipped in a letter or framed. I have been commissioned to paint lover’s eyes, pet’s eyes, and even video game character eyes!
